Cooperation between two nations to be enhanced

The first-ever ‘High-level Round Table on India – Sri Lanka Partnership’ was organised by the India’s High Commission in Colombo on Friday (10) at ITC Ratnadipa, Colombo. The event brought together experts, policymakers and though leaders to discuss key aspects of the bilateral relationship and propose pathways for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.

The roundtable explored diverse topics, including the geopolitical context for bilateral relations, the evolution of political ties, interlinked and mutual security and cultural linkages. The discussions also delved into a roadmap for the future, focusing on physical and energy connectivity, digital connectivity, trade and investment potential and strategies for sustainable development without debt dependency. These topics were presented by experts and well-versed researchers in their respective fields.

The event commenced with welcome remarks delivered by India’s High Commissioner Santosh Jha and was moderated by an eminent economist and trade expert Dr. Ganesh Wignaraja. It saw the participation of representatives from local think tanks and opinion leaders, as well as officers leading relevant wings from the High Commission.
