Based on the information revealed by the interrogation of a strong underworld criminal involved in drug trafficking named Sanjeewa in Makilangamuwa, who is being held on summons orders at the Weeragula Police Station, two more firearms allegedly used in two murders were found hidden in a forested area of Kumara Mawatha in the Mulleriya Police Domain, Western Province Northern District by the officers of the Crime Division on Wednesday (4).
A micro type pistol with two magazine cases and a pistol with one magazine case were recovered.
The Police said that it has been revealed that one of these weapons was the weapon used to shoot and kill a former constable, Police Atthanayaka, a notorious person, on the night of June 26, 2022 at Pattitya Junction in Peliyagoda. Aruna Kanta Attanayaka aka ‘Police Attanayaka’ was a former constable.
The second firearm was used to kill a person on January 17 in a house located on Peliyagoda Railway Station Road.
The Police said that a gunman who broke into the house of Kudu Ramani, who is said to be a notorious drug dealer in the Peliyagoda area, shot and killed her nephew who was sleeping.
The police said that the person who was killed was a drug dealer who was connected to the underworld called ‘Clutch Ranga’.
At that time, the investigative teams had revealed that both these murders took place under the leadership of Makilangamuwe Sanjeewa. The Police have confirmed this while questioning Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva and have also managed to find the firearms.
