Karapitiya Hospital Forensic Doctor was yesterday ordered by the Colombo High Court to immediately visit the Boossa Prison and submit a report to the Court regarding the health condition of drug kingpin Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’ who is currently serving a death sentence, as to whether he is fit enough to appear before the Court.
When the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige, the Superintendent of Boossa Prison informed the Court through a fax that Wele Suda was too ill to appear before the Court.
Considering the facts, the Colombo High Court Judge ordered the Karapitiya Forensic Doctor to submit a report regarding the health condition of Wele Suda on the next trial date.
The case will be taken up again for further trial on January 24.
The Attorney General had filed indictments in the High Court against three accused including drup kingpin Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’, his wife Gayani Priyadarshani and his cousin Wasanthi Wasundara alleging that they committed an offence punishable under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by acquiring nearly Rs. 150 million worth of land and houses in Colombo and its suburbs with the proceeds of heroin drug trafficking.
