Cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa has sent a Letter of Demand (LOD) to young actress Harshi Rasanga over alleged false accusations made against him on social media, claiming she presented a different version of events after court proceedings.
Rajapaksa’s legal team has alleged that the actress acknowledged before court that the gold chain had been pawned, but later shared a contradictory narrative on social media, prompting legal action.
The dispute relates to a gold chain valued at over Rs. 900,000, which Rajapaksa alleged was borrowed by the actress and later pawned without his knowledge.
The actress was arrested by the Thalangama Police and produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court, where she was granted bail on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each.
During court proceedings, the defence informed that the gold chain had been pawned and that arrangements could be made to redeem it and return it. However, speaking to media later, the actress claimed the chain had been given to her as a gift during a personal relationship.
The court directed Thalangama Police to take custody of the gold chain and produce it before court at the next hearing scheduled for April 22. (Newswire)
