De Mazenod-St. Joseph’s and Royal-Trinity clash in semi-finals

Two semi-finals of the Under 19 Division 1 Tier A Inter Schools Limited Overs Cricket Tournament will be held this weekend, at Surrey grounds Maggona.

De Mazenod College Kandana is set to face St. Joseph’s College Colombo in the semi-final today (18). De Mazenod College Kandana secured their spot in the quarter-final as the group champions during the first round, boasting the highest average points to reach the semis.

Conversely, St. Joseph’s College Colombo earned their quarter-final berth by finishing 4th in their group during the initial stage.

In the quarterfinals, St. Joseph’s College Colombo defeated Richmond College Galle, last year’s runner-up.

The semi-final match will see Uvindu Perera leading De Mazenod College Kandana, while Lahiru Amarasekara will captain St. Joseph’s College. The two teams met in the first round, with De Mazenod College emerging victorious over St. Joseph’s College.

Royal-Trinity Clash

Royal College Colombo will face defending champion Trinity College Kandy in the second semi-final on Sunday (19).

Royal College Colombo secured their spot in the quarter-finals as the 4th-placed team in their group during the first round, while Trinity College advanced to the quarter-finals as the runner-up in the same group.

In the quarterfinals, Royal College Colombo defeated S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia and Trinity College Kandy emerged victorious against Mahanama College Colombo.

Royal College Colombo will be led Sineth Jayawardane, captain of the Sri Lanka youth team while another National Youth cricketer, Manula Kularathne, will lead Trinity College Kandy.
