The Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, National Integration, Social Security and Mass Media Ministry has sent the following message for Deepavali:
“The theme of Deepavali is glorified as victory of enlightenment over darkness, goodness over evil and justice over injustice.
“Our beloved Hindu sisters and brothers celebrate this auspicious event to commemorate the day which Thiru, with help of Thirumal, defeated Narakasuran.
“Deepavali is celebrated by Hindus to commemorate the day when righteousness became victor over wickedness and wisdom defeated ignorance and established wealth of knowledge.
“On the path of excellence to create a nation walking towards a new revival which carries the theme ‘Pohosath Ratak – Lassana Jeewithayak’, this Deepavali gives a unique position to this theme. We humbly and joyfully mention it on this auspicious occasion.”
