Dematagoda Ruwan further remanded

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Ragala rejected the bail application filed on behalf of Ruwan Chamila Prasanna alias ‘Dematagoda Ruwan’ and ordered to further remand the suspect until January 18. The case has been filed against Dematagoda Ruwan under 

the Money Laundering Act, over the misappropriation of funds and assets worth over millions of Rupees.

When the case was taken up before the court, the Criminal Investigation Department informed the Magistrate that the investigation into the suspect is not yet over.

The CID also stated that information has been revealed regarding a property worth Rs.22 million belonging to a woman who had connections with the suspect. The CID further mentioned that they are conducting a separate investigation regarding the incident and the woman had left the area.

President’s Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe appearing on behalf of the suspect requested the Magistrate to release him on bail under any condition as he has been remanded for more than two months in connection with the incident.
