Addressing the Parliament today (Oct.21) Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando assured the public that there is no gas shortage in the country, noting that certain parties are attempting to create unnecessary public anxiety.
He explained that recent temporary delays in gas distribution were solely caused by a brief one or two day delay in a shipment vessel due to disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict.
Stressing that sufficient stocks are available, the Deputy Minister stated that Litro Gas is currently releasing 100,000 cylinders daily exceeding its normal daily supply of 80,000 to meet requirements. He also reaffirmed that adequate fuel and essential reserves remain fully secured. (Newswire)
