Twenty six year old Dhanushika Muhandiram is an old girl of Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy, who was a talented sportswoman of the school and after leaving school she got trained as a Physical Training Instructor and joined Mahamaya as a PTI and says that she is happy to serve her Alma mater. When she was a student of the school she was an all round cricketer a right arm medium pace bowler and a right hand middle order Batswoman.
Danushika represented Mahamaya Girls School to win many cricket tournaments in the Kandy District from 2009 to 2011 and she was selected to the Sri Lanka Junior Pool when she participated in the all Island cricket tournament held at Maharagama Grounds in 2011. In the year 2012 she captained the leather ball cricket team of the School after having played in cricket matches continuously for Eight years.
Dhanushika Muhandiram was a very active student of the School who was interested in other Sports as well. But she excelled in cricket and she had been in the Cadet Platoon of the School for three years and she received a Medal for being the ˜Best Sergeant in the year 2014 at the annual Cadet Camp held at Rantambe. As an active PTI attached to the School she is presently training the cricket team of Mahamaya as an Asst. Coach.
After leaving school, Dhanushika started her cricket training at the Kandy Cricket and Athletic Academy which is run by the writer with the assistance of E.M.U. Chandrathilak, a qualified Cricketer and Umpire and improved her ability before joining the School as a Physical Training Instructor.
At present as an Asst. Coach she is coaching the Mahamaya Girls cricket Team to come-up to a greater standard and she is thankful to the former Principal of Mahamaya, Indra Withanachchi and the other members of the Staff for helping her with her sports ability and her intention is to uplift the girls cricket team of the School to be the Best cricket team in the Kandy District.
