Opposition MP Dayasiri Jayasekara has warned that diesel prices could rise to between Rs. 550 and Rs. 600 per litre, based on the cost of an upcoming shipment due in April.
Speaking on the issue, Jayasekara said the diesel consignment expected to arrive on April 7 is likely to be priced at significantly higher rates, which would inevitably push up local fuel prices.
He also alleged that the current situation, including queues for fuel, is a result of the Government’s failure to manage procurement in a timely and systematic manner. (Newswire)
