DIMO selected to supply 200 vehicles to Sri Lanka Police

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for the Sri Lanka Police to purchase 200 imported single-cab vehicles from the local market to support and enhance official police operations across the island.

The approval follows a decision made during the Cabinet meeting held on February 23, 2026.

To execute the procurement, tenders were called under the national competitive bidding procedure, attracting a total of seven bids from local suppliers, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.

Upon thorough evaluation by the High-Level Procurement Committee, M/s Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) was selected as the substantially responsive lowest bidder, he said.

Under the approved proposal, which was submitted by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, the Sri Lanka Police will acquire 200 TATA Yodha Single-Cab Pickups at a cost of Rs. 4,785,000 per unit (excluding VAT), the government said. (Newswire)
