Director feigns shooting at house to blame other directors

The Police have found that the shooting at a house on Cross Road, Borella on June 22, where an executive director of a manufacturing and marketing company resides, had been arranged by the director himself on a one million rupee contract with the intention of implicating two other directors of the same company for the crime.

The Colombo South Division Crime Investigation Bureau has arrested four people, including the relevant director and have also found the T-56 weapon used in the shooting.

In addition to the T56 firearm, 64 rounds of ammunition too have been found.The company director had given the contract to shoot at his own house to his personal bodyguard and driver.

The shooter had been found by the two of them. The police stated that the shooter was now a painter and he had served in the army from 2001 to 2017 and left the army.The shooter is a resident of Kiridiwela Ulagama.

A group of relatives belonging to the same family are working as directors of the respective company.The arrested director of the company was supposed to present a project to the board meeting on the day of the shooting, but two directors had opposed it.

A senior police officer said that investigations have revealed that he had planned this shooting to remove the obstacles to this project by putting the blame on the two directors with regards to the shooting.The shooter, under police questioning has said he agreed to it as it was not intended to harm anyone. The shooter has said that the company director gave him the firearm for this shooting. The police information revealed that the company director rejecting the allegations.

It has been found from the investigations that the company director had given an amount of Rs.950,000 out of the money promised for the shooting.

The senior police officer said that the money had been divided among the shooter, the security officer and the driver.

These four arrested suspects have been detained for an additional 24 hours by a detention order and were scheduled to be presented to the court.Police information revealed that they had been able to trap the suspects through the analysis of security camera footage as well as mobile phone data.
