Measures are being taken to build 25000 houses each worth 50000 rupees with Solar Power Electricity in the Northern Province.
On Friday, discussions were held under the auspices of the Co-Chairman of Northern Province Development Committee and the Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda, to look into the matters regarding the building of 25000 houses with Solar Power Electricity, each worth 50000 rupees, as per the concept of President Ranil Wickremasinghe to build houses for the homeless poor people in the Northern Province.
At the discussion, cooperative societies made the Minister aware of the shortage of sugar in the Jaffna District, and the current stocks are not sufficient to distribute to the people in the Northern Province. Minister Douglas Devananda contacted the Minister of Trade and Commerce Nalin Fernando and discussed the issue and as a result of this discussion, a decision was taken to send an additional 100 metric tons of sugar to Northern Province. The Minister has taken measures to distribute this stock to 48 cooperative Societies in the Northern Province.
A group of officials including Jaffna District Secretary Ambalavanar Sivabalasundaram , Additional District Secretary Maruthalingam Pratheepan and the Divisional Secretaries of Jaffna District attended the discussion held at the District Secretariat, Jaffna.
