The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in collaboration with the Election Commission has set up a special operation centre at the DMC during the Presidential election period from September 19 to 22 to mitigate and manage any obstacles to the election from possible natural disasters due to unanticipated climate conditions.
Several emergency numbers including a hotline have been introduced and set up at the special operation centre at the DMC from September 19 to 22, to inform about any disaster that would cause disruption to election duties or voting which is connected with the Election Commission, Disaster Management Centre, Tri-Forces, Sri Lanka Police and all relevant institutions, DMC Director General retired Major General Udaya Herath stated.
Accordingly, emergency situations due to disasters which cause disruption to election duties or voting can be notified to the emergency hotline number 117 or the special integrated emergency operation phone numbers 0113668032, 0113668087, 0113668025, 0113668026 and 0113668119 established at the DMC and all efforts will be made to remove the obstacles as soon as possible after such notifications.
These special joint emergency operation numbers at the DMC will be operational only from September 19 to 22, the Director General stated.
