An all round performance by Rajive Nirmalasinham (43 off 50, 2-13 and two catches) and a six wicket haul by Shehan Sanjeewa helped Doctors defeat Architects by 90 runs in their inaugural edition of the annual cricket encounter played at the Thustan ground on Sunday.
Electing to bat first Doctors, helped by an 81 run first wicket stand between Rajive Nirmalasinham and Tharaka Wickremage (43 runs each) notched up 221/9 in their allotment of 40 overs. Gihan Aththanagoda scored 34 runs. Mayavatharan Vinoth captured 3 wickets and Suresh Edirisooriya picked up two wickets.
Chasing 222 to win, the Architects were restricted to 131 runs 32.5 overs as Shehan Sanjeewa captured a six fer and Manik Gunawardena topped the score card with 29.
