“Don’t allow breakdown of democracy”

Matara District MP Dullas Alahapperuma said in Parliament yesterday that there is no greater misfortune that could be faced by a country other than the breakdown of law and democracy. He requests the people to never allow such a situation to occur.

Alahapperuma also said that if the Government tries to circumvent an election in any way, then the Opposition and the people in the entire country should come together in one place to prevent this misfortune and win the election.

He said this while commenting on the gazette notification under the Essential Public Services Act.

“We should not consider who will win, who will lose and the result of the election, whatever it may be. But democracy should win in the end,” he said.
