The Labour and Foreign Employment Ministry said that no money should be given to any external party to access job opportunities in Israel. The Ministry also said that if it is confirmed that the money has been given, the job obtained by giving money will be lost.
Information has been received that some racketeers collect money to provide jobs in Israel. The Ministry says that it is illegal for external parties to make money by offering employment opportunities in Israel. The Ministry also states that people who collect money in this way will be arrested and the law will be implemented against them.
The Ministry also states, if it is confirmed that money has been given to any external party to get jobs in Israel, the Israeli and Sri Lankan governments will take all the necessary steps to bring them back according to the agreement.
Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara has instructed the Ministry and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) to strictly enforce the law against such racketeers. If any person collects money by offering jobs in Israel using the name of the Minister and his staff they will brought before the law irrespective of status.
Only government-approved fees are charged for jobs in Israel. Only the SLBFE is allowed to charge it. The Labour and Foreign Employment Ministry emphasizes that no permission has been given to any external person or organization to collect money for employment.
Israel is currently providing jobs in caregiver and agriculture sectors, according to a mutual agreement between the two countries.
Accordingly, the Ministry further emphasizes that no opportunity to refer workers for these employment opportunities has been opened to the private sector. There is no legal opportunity for any external party to intervene in such recruitment.
