The mastermind of the large scale drug trafficking operations between Qatar and Sri Lanka, “Alubomulle Pinky” was arrested by the Police yesterday (20).
Pinky was apprehended during a raid carried out in conjunction with the special “Yukthiya (Justice)” operations that are being currently conducted across the country.
Apart from “Alubomulle Pinky”, three other suspects have also been arrested who are residents of Alubomulla and Mahabellana.
During the interrogations carried out by the Police with the arrested suspects, important information and evidence on telephone conversations, illegal international money transactions carried out, and other information related to the drug smuggling operations that took place between Qatar and Sri Lanka have been revealed.
Further, during the inspection of the suspects’ bank accounts, it had been revealed that more than Rs.150 million has been transferred between their bank accounts within a period of about one year.
Apart from this, a house and three cars belonging to Pinky in Alubomulla have also been seized by Police.
