A group of officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division found and arrested a consignment of drugs with a market value of about 13 million rupees in 11 parcels sent by airmail to the Colombo Central Postal Exchange on the evening of January 4, Spokesman of Sri Lanka Customs Seevali Arukgoda said.
These parcels were sent from England and Germany to fake addresses in Colombo, Nugegoda, Panadura, Anuradhapura and Kandy.
In these parcels, 1,055 ecstasy or methamphetamine tablets, 318 grams of cannabis called “Kush” and 15 cannabis seeds were found by the officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division.
Employees of the Postal Department working at the Colombo Central Post Exchange also assisted in this arrest.
