The prevailing dry weather conditions are expected to change from Friday, 23 January 2026, according to the Department of Meteorology.
However, mainly dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of Sri Lanka today.
There is a possibility of ground frost in some areas of the Nuwara-Eliya district during the early hours of the morning.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, North-central and Uva provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Ampara districts in the morning.
Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be north-easterly to northerly, and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Galle via Colombo and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
