Under the Capacity Development for Local Governments (CDLG) project, sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Department of Local Government (DLG), Eastern Province and Management Development Training Unit (MDTU), Eastern Province awarded those who successfully completed the Diploma in Local Government Finance Management, held at the Hindu Cultural Hall, Trincomalee recently.
The ceremony was presided over by the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL) Chairman, V. Kanagasabapathy.
Applications were selected from officers working in Local bodies of Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee Districts in the Eastern Province and followed the six months Diploma course in Local Government Finance Management.
The award ceremony held under the patronage of the former Governor of Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath. Eastern Province Chief Secretary R.M.P.S. Rathnayakke, Secretary of Governor’s Secretariat L.P. Mathanayake, Deputy Chief Secretaries (Admin) A. Mansoor and (Personnel and Training) R.U. Abdul Jaleel, Departmental Heads and Commissioners were all present at the ceremony. The best performers were, Secretary of Akkaraipattu Municipal Council A.M. Habeebur Rahman and K. Karunakaran received their certificates from the Governor.
