The Election Commission has appointed a special team to monitor social media activities during the silent period leading up to the Presidential Election, Deputy Election Commissioner Piyumi Artigala said. She revealed this information during an inquiry made by Daily News.
She stated that a five-member team has been appointed for this purpose, and based on reports provided by monitoring organizations, necessary steps will be taken to remove any false information circulated on social media during this period. Artigala emphasised that the Commission is paying close attention to this matter.
