Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hideaki highlighted the importance of gaining higher education by youth and thanked EDEX Expo-2024 organisers for taking a vibrant step to encourage Sri Lankan youth to shape the educational landscape of the country.
The Ambassador made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the EDEX Expo-2024 education exhibition and job fair, concluded at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo.
The Ambassador highlighted that he was happy to attend the education exhibition and job fair and said education stands as the cornerstone of progress, laying the foundation for innovation and growth.
He said the EDEX exhibition with its rich history continues to play a pivotal role in encouraging the Sri Lankan youth to achieve their future goals.
EDEX Expo-2024 Chairman Mahinda Galagedara said education is the cornerstone of every society as it plays a tremendous role in shaping our future generation and it also helps to empower individuals, equips them with knowledge and skills. He said our youth is prepared to face any challenges of this changing world and we could fulfill their aspirations by building a better society only through education. A large number of visitors including schoolchildren from Government, private and International schools and also from universities attended the three-day exhibition and job fair.
EDEX Chairman Galagedara highlighted that participant students were keen to follow both local and foreign educational courses introduced by many local and foreign educational institutions at the exhibition.
He said schoolchildren, school leavers, job seekers and university students were anxiously awaiting to receive academic, vocational, technical, professional and postgraduate courses for their future prospects. The second phase of the EDEX exhibition will be held at Kandy City Centre today and tomorrow (17 and 18).
