Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the electricity tariff will be reduced by 30 percent with immediate effect resulting in a reduction of electricity bill by 30 percent for domestic consumers.
The new tariff reduction will come into effect from July 18.
The Public Utilities Commission’s (PUCSL) approval will be announced this week in this regard. However, it is reported that the decrease in electricity bill will not be applicable to hotels and factories.
