The Magisterial inquiry into the death of Janashakthi Insurance PLC Director Dinesh Schaffter, was postponed till March 22 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday.
The Chief Magistrate postponed the case due to the unavailability of the permanent Magistrate, who inquired the case.
On the previous hearing, the Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya had appointed a five member committee comprising judicial and forensic medicine experts to determine the cause of death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter. Accordingly, Prof. Asela Mendis, Prof. D.C.R Perera, Prof. D.N.P Fernando, Dr.Siva Subramaniam and Dr.Rohan Ruwanpura have been appointed for the investigation panel.
Since there were contradictions in the post-mortem report submitted regarding the death of Dinesh Schaffter, the Magistrate had appointed this investigation committee to study it extensively and conclude the cause of death.
