The Government issued vouchers to the farmers to buy Urea fertilizer in the last Yala Season.
However, the Agrarian Development Department points out that although a group of farmers have received vouchers, they have not purchased the related Urea fertilizers.
Urea fertilizers were issued to the Agrarian Service Centres by the Government-owned Lanka Fertilizer Company and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Company.
Agriculture and Plantation Industry Minister Mahinda Amaraweera advised the officials to take steps to allow the farmers who did not get Urea fertilizer for the vouchers to use the vouchers for this Maha Season as well.
Accordingly, the Urea fertilizers related to the vouchers can be obtained from the Agrarian Service Centres and the Agriculture Ministry requests the farmers to make arrangements to obtain the fertilizer before December 15.
