Dankotuwa Police reported that a heated argument between a father and son in the Attiyawala area led to the enraged father attacking his son with a fishing spear. The spear penetrated deeply into the son’s mouth, making it difficult to remove.
The injured individual was taken to Colombo National Hospital with the spear still lodged in his mouth, according to the Dankotuwa Police.
The victim, a 24-year-old father of one from Attiyawala, was attacked by his father following an argument that arose because the son arrived home late. The argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, the father struck his son’s mouth with the spear. The sharp prongs of the spear, designed like a billhook, penetrated deeply.
The injured individual was initially taken to Dankotuwa Hospital and then transferred to Marawila Base Hospital for further treatment. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later sent to Colombo National Hospital.
At the time of the incident, the father was heavily under the influence of alcohol and is currently evading the police. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend him.
