A video using lion and cub imagery to promote former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s appearance at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) rally in Anuradhapura has gained attention on social media.
The video was shared by SLPP Anuradhapura Chief Organiser and former MP Janaka Thissakuttiarachchi ahead of the party’s rally in Anuradhapura.
The video depicts a lion cub facing danger before an adult lion arrives to rescue it. The footage then features Mahinda Rajapaksa, with the Sinhala words “The lion to Anuradhapura.”
The video comes as Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to attend the SLPP rally while his son, SLPP National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa, remains in remand custody.
The SLPP rally is being held in Anuradhapura as the party seeks to mobilise supporters amid the remand of its National Organiser. (Newswire)
