Female fraudster arrested

A woman who defrauded people of Rs.2,675,000 by offering employment in Romania was arrested by the Special Investigation Division of the Foreign Employment Bureau in Colombo on June 20.

A 56-year-old woman from Kandana was arrested after six complaints were received against her.

Police also said that the woman was previously arrested in connection with a case of fraud for offering jobs for people in Japan.

The suspect was expected to be produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court. On the instructions of Kapila Karunaratne, Manager of the Special Investigation Division of the Foreign Employment Bureau, further investigations are being conducted by officers led by Ravindra Abeypala, the law enforcement officer of that division.
