A female officer working at the Department of Emigration and Immigration was arrested on Thursday (06) by the Computer Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department for allegedly entering false information into the department’s data system and preparing false documents.
The 47-year-old woman is an authorized officer of the Immigration Department and a resident of Seeduwa Amuna Road.
A senior police officer said that she had used these false documents while preparing foreign passports. The officer further said that investigations are continuing to ascertain whether she was involved in this crime by accepting bribes.
