Ishara Jayawardane
Boodee Keerthisene and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Pepe Danquart are doing a masterclass on filmmaking! Boodee and Pepe are both excited about this opportunity, and you should be too. This masterclass will be an excellent chance to improve your skills in filmmaking.
Boodee’s journey started when he had the rare opportunity to attend the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York City, to learn about film and television craft. While he was there, he met many professionals in the entertainment, film, and arts industries. Some of his former classmates and roommates have since become world-famous celebrities. He even had the opportunity to make a documentary with composer Philip Glass and the late Allen Ginsberg and John Moran. Boodee was fortunate enough to meet the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, an Academy Award-winning composer, and even asked him to act in a movie he was writing at the time. Although the film never got made, they kept in touch until Sakamoto’s recent passing.
Boodee always wondered how he could provide talented individuals in Sri Lanka with the experience and exposure of working with world-renowned professionals. So he reached out to his friend Pepe, an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, and asked if he would be interested in teaching a masterclass on filmmaking. Pepe has made feature films and many award-winning documentaries, and he has experience with film festivals and distribution worldwide. This masterclass is a great opportunity for professionals to brush up on their skills, students to learn new techniques, and beginners to understand how to become a filmmaker or a documentarian or a short filmmaker. Everyone who participates in the two-day masterclass at Barnhouse will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and tea both days, and they will receive a certificate of participation signed by Pepe Danquart and Boodee Keerthisene.
