The final stage of the inaugural ‘Super League’ semi-professional football tournament will commence on 29th of November tentatively scheduled to kick off in Colombo and Kurunegala respectively.
After two stages of play, the elite tournament of the Football Sri Lanka (FSL) calendar organized by FSL is to resume from next week and is scheduled to run till the first week of January with the participation of ten teams.
The Sea-Hawks are heading the fray as the only unbeaten team winning all three matches with nine points. Under the influence of the Japanese coach, they have performed exceptionally well.
Meanwhile, due to the prevailing weather conditions and to spread the game to other districts, the FSL management has decided to host matches at the newly reconstructed Maligawa Grounds in Kurunegala and at the Race Course grounds along with some matches at the Sugathadasa stadium depending on the availability
The table leaders at the end of the competition will be adjudged Champions with the second-placed team will be adjudged as the runner-up. After the completion of the second stage of the tournament, the incumbent FSL management decided to extend a helping hand to the clubs to share their financial burdens by sponsoring the locally contracted player’s salaries with another rumination package to clubs to keep their players intact.
