A sudden fire broke out at noon today (16) in the transformer installed at the Cancer Unit of the Galle National Hospital.
Hospital authorities immediately disconnected the electricity supply to the unit as a precautionary measure, ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
The blaze was swiftly brought under control by hospital employees working alongside the Galle Municipal Council’s City Firefighting Unit, who managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread further. (Newswire)
