A young man from Tambuttegama died after a firework he was inspecting to be lit at a wedding ceremony suddenly exploded in his hand.
The deceased is a 31-year-old man named Lakmal Jayathilake. Police said when the deceased tried to lit a firework canister it suddenly exploded causing injuries.
The police say that the young man, who suffered serious head injuries in the accident, died on admission to the Thambuttegama hospital.
A group of Thambuttegama police officials are conducting further investigations regarding this accident.
