First phase of ‘Adhikarana Piyasa‘ Courts Complex is to be completed in 2024

Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister Ali Sabry, PC joined a special observation tour of the Adhikarana Piyasa (Courts Complex) under construction for the establishment of the Ministry of Justice and other Courts in Colombo on Thursday (15) afternoon.

The building currently under construction consists of 15 floors and work on six floors is being completed. The foundation stone for this project was laid on January 25, 2021. Although it was planned to complete its entire work in the year 2023, the construction was slow due to the economic crisis. The first phase of this court complex is planned to be completed in 2024.

Joining for the observation tour, Minister Sabry said that this building, which is being built to reduce the congestion in the courts and complete case the proceedings quickly, is a fully equipped building with modern facilities, so that more attention should be paid to the quality of this building and necessary arrangements should be made to complete the work quickly.

The Secretary of the Colombo Bar Association, Attorney-at-Law Navin Shanaka, a group of officials from the Ministry of Justice and the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau which is acting as the consultant and contractor for the work of this building complex, joined the observation tour.
