Naval and fishing communities have been warned not to venture into specific deep sea areas of the Bay of Bengal, as the Department of Meteorology issued a yellow weather alert regarding a low-pressure area likely to form around October 23.
According to the special weather bulletin issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 5:00 PM on October 22 the potential low pressure system is expected to develop over the Southeast and adjoining East-Central Bay of Bengal before moving West-Northwestwards and intensifying further.
Consequently, authorities have advised all naval and fishing vessels operating within the deep-sea zones bounded by 10N-20N and 80E-95E to relocate to safe areas immediately.
The public and fishing communities are urged to closely monitor subsequent weather updates issued by the Department of Meteorology. (Newswire)
