President Ranil Wickremesinghe has removed five State Ministers from their portfolios with immediate effect.
Accordingly, Urban Development and Housing State Minister Thenuka Vidanagamage, Small and Medium Enterprise Development State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, Irrigation and Water Supply State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa, Power and Energy State Minister D. V. Chanaka and Women and Child Affairs State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe were removed from their respective positions with immediate effect from yesterday.
This decision has been taken under the powers given to the President by Article 47(3) (a) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka. The President removed State Ministers Premalal Jayasekara, Indika Anuruddha, Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva and Siripala Gamlath last week as well.
