The Galle Police reported that 331 suspected food parcels, prepared for attendees of a rally held in support of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential Candidate were seized along with the person who prepared them.
The rally was organized under the leadership of a former State Minister and a Galle District MP in the Haliwala area of Galle. The arrest was made by officials from the Election Commission and the police on Thursday 12.
The individual arrested is a 48-year-old driver residing in Hillside Estate, Haliwala, Galle.
The food parcels were reportedly prepared to be distributed to those attending the meeting. Following a complaint, officials from the Election Complaint Investigation Unit, along with police officers, conducted the arrest and handed the suspect over to a mobile police patrol team.
