The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday (30) questioned the former Health Ministry Secretary Janaka Sri Chandraguptha in connection with the investigation into defrauding the Medical Supply Division of by using false documents to supply Human Immunoglobulin antibody vaccines without proper procedures. When the former secretary was leaving the Criminal Investigation Department, a group standing outside jeered at him and protested. The Attorney General’s Department requested the court to order the former Secretary to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department and provide the specimen signatures and handwriting. Hearing of the case related to this pharmaceutical fraud took place yesterday (29) in the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.
Accordingly, court issued an order to the former secretary to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department at 10 a.m. yesterday. According to police information, the former secretary appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department and a statement was recorded from him.
