Four held for smuggling gold worth Rs.123 Mn

Customs officers seized 30 gold biscuits and a stock of gold items worth Rs.123 million weighing around six kilograms which were illegally brought to this country by four persons, Customs Director Seevali Arukgoda said.

A man and three women were arrested for this smuggling attempt. Arukgoda further added that these four suspects came to Sri Lanka with these illegal stocks of gold from the flights bearing number FZ 569 and UL 226 yesterday (27) morning, and they will be detained and questioned regarding the incident. Sri Lanka Customs is conducting further investigations.
