Anamaduwa Police said that four suspects including the main suspect who gave a contract of Rs.100,000 to kill his best friend over an illegitimate affair with his wife has been arrested. However, the attempt by the four suspects to kill the man who is a farmer in Anamaduwa had failed.The farmer is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the murder attempt at Colombo National Hospital.
Police also has arrested the wife of the injured man on charges of aiding and abetting in her husband’s attempted murder. Among the arrested are two suspects residing in Negombo who are said to be the persons who obtained the contract to kill the farmer.
One of the assassins had sustained severe injuries to one of his hands as a sword attack intended to kill the farmer had fallen on his hand. The suspects are to be produced in court.
