Four people died when a lorry that they were travelling overturned in Badulla yesterday at around 12 noon.
Another three persons who were also travelling in the lorry had sustained serious injuries and have been admitted for treatment at the Badulla Teaching Hospital, Police said.
The lorry that met with the accident was carrying a group of workers from Moneragala who had come to Badulla to fix bus halts. The lorry toppled over on the middle of the road at the Welihinda area on the Badulla-Soranathota Road when taking a sharp bend. Badulla Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
