Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin and activist Duminda Nagamuwa who appeared in Court over an incident where they forcefully entered the President’s Office were released on bail by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
The Magistrate ordered for the suspects to be released on personal bail of Rs.500,000 each. The Magistrate also imposed a travel ban on them.
The suspects appeared in court on Wednesday (24) upon being informed to do so by the Colombo North Crimes Investigation Division.
The Police further stated that another three people were named as suspects in the incident where they forcefully entered the President’s Office and convened a media briefing on July 13,2022.
The case will be taken up again on August 31, 2022.
