Acting on a tip off received by the Sri Lanka Army Intelligence Unit, officers of the Sri Lanka Army and the Matara Police in a joint operation carried out in Naimana, Matara on Saturday (29) evening apprehend four persons who were transporting a gem studded stone stupa in a car.
The four occupants of the vehicle, residents of Katana, Ragama, Padukka and Karandawa were detained and produced before the Matara Magistrate on Sunday (30). They were remanded till May 8. Further investigations are being conducted by the Matara Police. Picture shows the gem studded stone Stupa.
