The case filed against Environment Minister Keheliya Rambukwella for allegedly causing an unlawful loss to the Government by misusing public funds belonging to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) by purchasing 600 GI pipes, was on Wednesday fixed for February 14, 2024 by the Colombo High Court.
The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe.
The Bribery Commission had filed indictment in the Colombo High Court against Environment Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, former Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Director General Liyanage Chandrapala and its Chairman Wimalasena Rupasinghe alleging that they have committed an offence of corruption under the Bribery Act during the period from November 25, 2014 to December 10, 2014, while Minister Keheliya was acting as the Mass Media Minister, causing loss to the Government by purchasing 600 GI pipes worth Rs. 990,000 from funds belonging to the SLRC.
The case was filed against the accused under four counts under the Bribery Act and the Penal code. Twenty six prosecution witnesses and 17 items had been named as the productions of the case in the indictment.
