Goods prices to drop 5–10% after Electricity Bill reduction

The All Ceylon Small Industrialists Association states that the price of goods will decrease in the next two weeks in line with the reduction in electricity bills.

The Chairman of the Association, Mr. Niruksha Kumara, also stated that the Public Utilities Commission has taken steps to reduce the electricity bill in the industrial sector by 30% with effect from the 17th.

Accordingly, he said that the electricity cost related to the goods produced has decreased since yesterday (20), and as a result, the price of goods will decrease by between 5% and 10%.

He said that the goods produced in this way will be released to the market in about two weeks, and thus the people will receive the relevant relief.

In addition, he stated that the fees for services such as hair cutting and vehicle cleaning will gradually decrease, and that industrialists have received some relief through the reduction in electricity bills.
