According to Minister Handunnetti, the meeting brought together representatives of leading professional associations and institutions in the cinema industry to discuss measures needed to overcome existing challenges.

The Minister said he emphasised the need for government intervention to implement the proposals, safeguard the rights of artists and revitalise the local film industry.

Among those present were State Cinema Subcommittee Chairman and veteran filmmaker Anuruddha Jayasinghe, Sri Lanka Film Producers Association President Renuka Balasooriya, Art Directors Association President Bimal Dushmantha and Professional Makeup Artists Association President Nayana Ujith.

Representatives of film assistant directors, production managers and foreign film producers also attended the discussion.
