Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said the government’s income is Rs. 8,420 million and the expenditure is Rs.14,670 million so the amount in shortfall to meet the daily expenses is Rs.6250 million.
The Minister said that all those who are trying to govern this country should debate on how to run the government on a daily basis.
The Minister was speaking at an event on Saturday at the National Youth Center Auditorium in Maharagama, where for the first time in the history of SLTB, 1,600 employees who have been working on contract since 2018 were given permanent employment.
The Minister further said that all political parties as well as party leaders who wish to contest elections as well as voters should pay close attention to this situation. The minister said that he was referring to the situation in the year 2023 and 2024 is going on and this is the situation that has been happening for many years after independence.
