Former JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti said that the Government is misleading the public and is working towards a scheme to handover Trincomalee harbour to Adani Group in the pretext of implementing the 13th Amendment.
He made this statement addressing a meeting in Thambuthegama on August 19. The Government tax revenue has collapsed. Gross national income of the country is 7%. For Govt. Projects the country has taken a loan of 8 billion rupees. There have been construction projects – Highways, Lotus Tower, Economic Centres, Airports, Conference halls, sports grounds, Port cities constructed on reclaimed land, but there is no income from these. The money spent for these has been misused.
The citizens are now compelled to pay taxes for these Government loans.
