Govt ready to act on COPF’s report: PM

Office Assistant – Grade 1 increased by 29.53% up to Rs. 188,827:
Deputy Governor increased by 76.97% up to Rs. 1.7 Mn:

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday said that the Government is ready to take a decision based on the report given by the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance (COPF) regarding the increase in salaries of the employees of the Central Bank (CB).

The Prime Minister further stated that each institution enters into collective agreements with the trade unions to increase production, but the formulas followed by each institution is different.

The Premier was responding to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S. M. Marikkar in Parliament yesterday (6).

The Prime Minister informed the House that the gross salary of the office assistant – Grade 1 of the Central Bank has been increased by 29.53 percent up to Rs. 188,827.

The gross salary of the Deputy Governor has been increased by 76.97 percent up to Rs. 1,728,419.
